Overview

The Analytical Genomics Core Facility at Lake Nona offers state-of-the-art genomics services such as Next Generation DNA Sequencing and DNA microarrays technologies. We have already established these cutting-edge genomics technology platforms at Lake Nona that complement related technologies in San Diego, California. These combined resources provide access for our scientists, regardless of location, to some of the most advanced infrastructure for genomics research in the nation.

Services

DNA Sequencing facility

    • high throughput capability: multiple samples, even multiple genomes in single run
    • high accuracy (greater than 99.94% base calling): supports many types of genome-wide studies
    • microsatellites analysis, AFLP, paternity test with FBI STR markers and other traditional DNA sequencing

Microarray facility

    • 3` Gene Expression
    • 500K genotyping (SNPs)
    • Whole Transcripts Exon/Gene, tiling
    • Cytochip, miRNA, non-coding RNA arrays utilizing Affymetrix GeneChip System and Agilent spotted array platforms
    • Sanford-Burnham GeneChip Service provides full service of microarray experiments for both Gene expression and DNA genotyping; namely target labeling, hybridization, washing and scanning and preliminary data analysis

  • ABI Solid 4.0 System is a highly accurate, massively parallel next-generation sequencing platform (NGS) that supports wide range of applications. With high throughput capability (sequencing multiple samples, even multiple genomes in single run) and greater than 99.94% base calling accuracy, the system enables to complete sequencing experiments more cost effectively than previously possible
  • ABI 3730XL DNA Sequencer (96 well capillary analyzer)
  • Affymetrix GeneChip System that includes High resolution Scanner 3000 7G with Autoloader, Fluidics Station 450, Hybridization oven 640
  • Agilent spotted array platform which includes DNA Microarray Scanner, Hybridization Chamber and Hybridization Oven
  • The Affymetrix Expression Console Software, GeneChip Genotyping Analysis Software (GTYPE) and Data Transfer Tool (DTT) and GeneChip-compatible software integrated in the GeneChip workstation are free to use
  • ABI-7900HT Fast Real-Time PCR, that combines 96 and 384-well plate compatibility and the Taqman Low Density Array with automated robotic loading capability
  • Bioanalyzer 2100 platform (Agilent)
