Burnham Institute for Medical Research Faculty Appointed to BioFlorida’s Board of Directors

ORLANDO, Fla. , August 3, 2009

Burnham Institute for Medical Research at Lake Nona today announced the appointment of Dr. Stephen Gardell to the Board of Directors of BioFlorida. Dr. Gardell’s appointment was approved by BioFlorida’s Board at their July meeting. He joins the impressive roster of 38 directors representing research institutes, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies and supporting organizations throughout the state.

Dr. Gardell, director of translational research and adjunct associate professor at Burnham Lake Nona, brings extensive experience in research technology and drug development that will support BioFlorida’s mission to create and maintain a growing bioscience industry in Florida. Dr. Gardell held senior positions at several large pharmaceutical companies, including Wyeth Laboratories, Bayer Research Center and Merck Research Laboratories, prior to joining Burnham.
