Type 2 diabetes, which is driven by obesity, has increased dramatically in the last decade, with more than 60 percent of U.S. adults diagnosed as overweight or obese. To address these challenges, scientists in the Diabetes and Obesity Research Center are studying the metabolic basis of obesity-related diabetes and its cardiovascular complications. The center is focused on translational research and has established advanced technology resources and formed clinical and pharmaceutical
research partnerships to drive their discoveries toward patient application.
